Looking to taste Micky D’s all over the world? Why not give it a shot in Singapore, a blend of many cultures. In this blog post, I outline nine unique McDonald’s locations around the island. Down below, I also list some of the unique menu items you can enjoy at McD SG.
It is important to note that all McDonald’s locations in Singapore are Halal-certified by MUIS (The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore), however, beef is served despite the nation’s large Hindu population. McDonald’s is different in every country, and Singapore is no exception. For the sake of this blog post, I will compare the US menu to those items available, or not available, at McDonald’s in Singapore locations.
When it comes to burgers and sandwiches, McDonald’s in Singapore has your usual quarter pounder, McChicken, Happy Meals, and the iconic Big Mac. But McDonald’s in Singapore also offers the Double McSpicy and Double Filet-O-Fish. Singapore Mickey D’s also offers a Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich which features pineapple and red cabbage. In the past, there have been some regionally-inspired treats such as a teriyaki burger with egg with curly fries as well as a satay burger.
Other delicacies include what is called the McCrispy, which are fired bone-in chicken drumsticks along with the McWrap chicken wrap. The curry dipping sauce and hot sauce are favorites for fries and the Spicy McNuggets. A side of corn is also not unpopular! There are also salad options. In the past they have had featured side items similar to tater tots and popcorn chicken.
For breakfast, McDonald’s in Singapore does not offer oatmeal, but instead there scrambled eggs burgers (with beef or chicken). There are also breakfast wraps instead of a breakfast burrito, and there recently was a limited edition breakfast bagel.
For dessert, you can stick with your basic vanilla cone, but you can also opt for the Chocolate Cone which features a chocolate shell around the classic soft serve cone. You can also opt for the Mudpie McFlurry or the Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry. In the past, McDonald’s in Singapore locations have also offered limited edition double chocolate pies, corn pies, durian soft serve, pineapple soft serve, custard pies, and melon sundaes.
As for drinks, McDonald’s in Singapore offers fewer soda options (coke and sprite variations), with more emphasis on juices, hot and iced Milo and tea, coffee, and frappes. However, in Singapore you can get a Double Chocolate Frappe with Oreo add-in options. There are sadly no milkshakes. But it is important to keep in mind that the McCafe counter always features a variety of baked goods, such as cheesecake and muffins, as well as cold to-go sandwiches.
Now, for some of the most unique Singapore McDonald’s locations around the island…
